We are thrilled to announce that our APS students recently participated in the 2025 SkillsUSA District 6 Leadership and Skills Conference, held from February 20 to 22 at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco, Texas. This event brought together students from Central and East Texas to showcase their talents in various skilled trades and leadership competitions.
Our students competed against top magnet and specialty schools in our SkillsUSA district, proudly representing the only charter school in the competition. Despite the strong competition, our students excelled, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication. We participated in 16 competitions and earned medals in 10 categories, showcasing our commitment to excellence and career readiness.
Our students' outstanding performances have qualified them to advance to the SkillsUSA Texas State Leadership and Skills Conference, scheduled for April 2-5, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. This state-level competition will provide them with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills on a larger stage and compete for national recognition.
Our talented students have demonstrated exceptional hard work, determination, and skill across multiple disciplines, including Business, Criminal Justice, and Health Science.

-Community Service Project: Coraima Govellan, Valeria Escobedo, Sara Portillo: 3rd Place
-Crime Scene Investigation: Kayla De La Trinidad, Sarah Sanchez, Fatima Gutierrez: 2nd Place
-Employment Applications: Arleth Hernandez: 3rd Place
-First Aid/CPR: Elizabeth Herrera: 3rd Place
-Police Application: Jaylen Hernandez: 2nd Place
-Criminal Justice Quiz Bowl: 1st Place – Czar Mojica, Amy Reyes, Sharon Jolon, Jaylen Hernandez, Daniela Hernandez, Kayla De La Trinidad
-Medical Terminology: Angel Cano: 2nd Place
-Technical Computer Applications: Elizabeth Martinez: 1st, Evelyn Martinez: 2nd, Evolet Salas: 3rd
-Criminal Justice: Kameron Wells: 2nd Place
-Felony Traffic Stop: Alexis Yanez & Jaylen Hernandez: 3rd Place
But the biggest news: Angel Cano has earned the opportunity to advance directly to the 2025 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC). This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from June 23-27, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. The NLSC is the pinnacle of career and technical education competitions, bringing together over 6,500 outstanding students from across the nation to compete.
Angel's advancement to this national stage is a testament to their dedication, skill, and the unwavering support of our educators. We eagerly anticipate witnessing their continued success as they represent our school and community on this esteemed platform.
