Mrs. Heather Bassham » Biography

"When Heather Bassham is not inflicting young children with grammar rules, SAT vocabulary practice, and Arthur Miller, she trapses out of the school that she has taught in for 6 years and blasts New Wave all way down I-20 home to Heartland, Texas. She goes home and cares for her Autistic son and baby boy, and cooks, cleans, and practices math and reading with her 3rd grader while her husband works and attends college. She even tries to squeeze in a chaturangas of yoga. On any given afternoon, she tends their butterfly garden, pushes a bike or a stroller around the neighborhood, explores the neighborhood and country roads with her kids with her boys, takes the boys to the local library, or goes to the Roller Rinks in Mesquite. Weekends will find her grading, making lesson plans, attending music practice and finding her shalom at her Duncanville synagogue, watching anime, setting up music at Second Saturdays in Forney, exploring genealogy, and star charts with her telescope. Sometimes she also has a moment to read for pleasure, as well as for study. Someday, she would like to expand her education and get her Masters degree in either counseling or Library Sciences at her beloved University of Texas schools. Mrs. Bassham has many years of Texas living and true Texas grit; although her family had lived in Orange County, California for 130 years, she never plans on leaving the Lone Star State.”
